Jameson Tweedie

Jameson Tweedie became Delaware’s Public Advocate in April 2025, following confirmation by the Delaware Senate.  Jameson brings to the role of Public Advocate almost 20 years of experience as a Delaware lawyer, focusing on climate and energy law.

Prior to becoming Public Advocate Jameson served as a Senior Staff Attorney at the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center, a non-partisan policy center at NYU School of Law.  Before joining NYU, he spent six years in the Environmental Unit of the Delaware Department of Justice, representing the State on climate, energy, legislative, regulatory, and other environmental matters.

Jameson served as primary counsel to DNREC’s Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy, advising on numerous climate and energy matters, including the State’s first Climate Action Plan, the Delaware Climate Solutions Act of 2023, the State’s consideration of offshore wind, the overhaul of the Coastal Zone Act regulations, and various renewable energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicle, and other energy matters before the Public Service Commission.

Jameson has been a member of the Delaware bar since 2006 and, before working for the State, spent a decade in private practice at two Wilmington law firms.  Jameson also previously held leadership positions in the Delaware State Bar Association’s Environment Section and the Committee on Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Ecosystems of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources.

Jameson graduated from Middlebury College, cum laude, with an A.B. in Geography and Computer Science (2001), and after teaching geography for two years, earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Washington & Lee University School of Law (2006).  During law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor for the Washington & Lee Law Review.

The role of the Public Advocate is outlined in 29 Del. C., Section 8716
